As the role of faculty continues to evolve, responsibilities and expectations transform appropriately. A partial listing of faculty responsibilities includes curriculum development, assessment activities, appropriate use of technology to enhance student learning, participation on committees, academic advisement of students, mentoring and collaboration with colleagues, as well as participation in recruitment and retention activities. Faculty members are also expected to have flexible schedules to adjust to the needs of the student population, and to be open to exploring alternative teaching modalities. In particular, the college seeks individuals with leadership potential and a vision for the future.

Position Description:

Full-time, tenure-line faculty position on the Cattaraugus County Campus. Reference Librarian for the Cattaraugus County Campus Library (CCCL) demonstrates initiative, leadership, and the ability to work both independently and as an integral member of the library team and shares a commitment to creating a welcoming, supportive environment for students, faculty, staff, and other library users. This is a 9-month appointment. Position available August 2018.


Required: Master's in Library and Information Science from an accredited ALA institution and a minimum of one year of experience in an academic library. Commitment to providing excellent customer service and working collaboratively with faculty and staff. Knowledge of online library management systems and Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent is required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and to communicate effectively. Evidence of strong presentation/teaching skills. Familiarity with current library trends and technologies. Commitment to excellence in providing services to students, faculty, and staff.

Preferred: Additional post-MLIS experience with relevant reference and instruction experience at an academic or research library. A knowledge of academic librarianship, proficiency with state of the art technological innovations, and the ability to teach in another discipline are desirable.
