Georgetown University Law Library is seeking applications for a Digital Initiatives Librarian position, based in the Edward Bennett Williams Law Library.

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Law Librarian for Digital Initiatives and Special Collections, this position is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and advancement of digital projects and collections falling under the purview of the Digital Initiatives Department at the Georgetown University Law Library.
In this capacity, the Digital Initiatives Librarian manages the production digitization of library materials, including oversight of the staff scanning team and student assistants. S/he will conduct training in digital concepts and processes, as well as the use of multiple pieces of equipment for book, document and microform scanning, and associated software. The Digital Initiatives Librarian will participate in repository ingest processes for all digital platforms, and will develop metadata strategies for digitized materials, including for use in digitization workflow tools and for migration to new systems. S/he will participate in the continued development of production digitization tools including a loan platform and a workflow management tool. The Digital Initiatives Librarian will develop technological solutions through writing code for bulk processes around digital asset use and management.
M.L.S. or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited library school; demonstrated ability to manage projects and project teams to accomplish goals on time; a high level of proficiency with personal computers, software, and library-relevant information technology applications; experience with digital library collections and electronic objects in an academic setting; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to perform command-line tasks, and familiarity with batch scripting and a modern procedural computer language. Proficiency with digital image editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop/Bridge, ImageMagick, and Irfanview. Knowledge of MARC, MODS, METS and Dublin Core and other metadata standards appropriate for digital materials.
Familiarity with XML/XSLT; ability to program in Python; experience working with data from an integrated library system.
